Join the Volunteers of Old Wye Mill

Join our Old Wye Mill community as a Docent or Apprentice Miller!

These positions give volunteers opportunities to learn about the history of mills and milling on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and interact with the public in one of Maryland’s most remarkable places.

Volunteer training is offered each spring with a speaker series and hands-on workshops. Speakers present perspectives on different historical eras and themes related to the Mill. Old Wye Mill’s experienced Millers and Docents demonstrate how to turn grain into flour, meal, and other products, and how to present this history to the public. Workshops on how to engage the public effectively conclude the formal training; volunteers then train on the job under experienced mentors.

Please contact the Old Wye Mill office at info@oldwyemill.org or by telephone at 410-827-3850 to learn more about Old Wye Mill’s volunteer opportunities.
