Mission, Vision & Organization

Mission

To preserve and operate the Old Wye Mill as a working grist mill and interpret the water-powered grist mill to explore with the public its history, technology, and cultural significance.

Vision

Old Wye Mill engages people of all ages, backgrounds, and interests in experiential learning about the social, geographic, economic, technological, and nutritional significance of grinding grain in a working, water-powered grist mill that has been operated at the site from the 1600s to the present day.

Friends of Wye Mill

In 1996 Preservation Maryland transferred ownership of Old Wye Mill to a newly formed 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, Friends of Wye Mill, Inc. Since that time, Friends of Wye Mill has been the legal entity which owns, governs, and operates the Mill.
