Opening Day Celebration
Date: Saturday, May 2nd, 2026
Activities include:
Flour Grinding Demonstrations.
Colonial cooking demonstration by Ken Derrenbacher.
Reenactors from the Chesapeake Independent Blues will provide historic weapons demonstrations.
Bake Sale.
Jam Taste Testing.
Observation beehive provided by George Meyer creator of Bee George Honey.
Book reading of “MAC AND THE MILLSTONE OF TIME” by Timothy Young. Timothy has written 15 children’s books some of which are in school libraries.
Author Don Parks will be available with his six books available for signing. He will be presenting insights on the local waterways.
Stone-ground flours, honey, jams, maple syrup, pottery and other gifts will be available to purchase. Come check out our gift shop.
Gunther’s Food truck will be on-hand providing lunch options for the hungry.
Delicious homemade baked goods are offered for sale, along with other holiday gifts and goodies, at the annual Old Wye Mill Christmas Shoppe.
